Villages in the Sky: DIY World Change

Tree house village October 28, 2009

In a forest near the Acorn community in Virginia, we have started an experiment of building a play space in the trees (see pictures).  This is a test bed of a much larger collection of tree houses and platforms we will be building in the spring of 2010 near East Wind community in the Ozarks of southern Missouri.  Tree houses balance the more serious physical traces we will be leaving: complimenting the work of windmills with play of tree houses.  The village will include loops safe for children and loops more appropriate for adults, so that there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

Once participants arrive at at East Wind, they will be able to build upon and embellish the platforms we’ll be building in the two month long seed camp the May and April before the festival.

I live in NW Arkansas and would like more info on the treehouse project in Missouri. We have a group here that may be interested in visiting to get some ideas for our own growing eco-community.
